Forgiveness is Divine Grace

How do you live a life blessed with favor and peace, within and with others? By magnanimous generosity (like throwing beads at Mardi Gras) of forgiveness.

Have we forgotten forgiveness? Jesus instructed us: “Resist not evil…” (Matthew 5:39a)

“WHAT?!” you say. Remember, God said, “Vengeance is Mine.” (Deuteronomy 32: 35, Romans 12:19)

Does it take East Indian-born Depok Chopra, a man who lives peace and compassion, to teach the heart of our Middle Eastern-born Jesus?

If you have ears to hear…read his wisdom and understanding in this Huffington Post article below.

The Truth About Love

God’s Love IS unconditional. The love of humans is the best they know! paradigm shift deepak chopra                        And, expectation (a preconceived notion of a future event, behavior, or outcome) of unconditional love is a detour into the cul-de-sac of ingratitude. Disappointment lies at that dead end. The solution: transmute expectation into belief.

How? Pretend.

Merriam-Webster defines “pretend: speak and act so as to make it appear that something is the case…..”

Encourage the little girl/boy inside you (your inner child) to imagine your hopes, dreams, desires: concord within our family; agreement with your spouse; success and contentment for your children, and children’s children; increase in your income. Be specific!

Make believe it’s already happened.

Envision it as your present reality. Now.

Do it on purpose. Purposely, and purposefully, include yourself.

Pretend. Love makes it happen!

Let’s Look and See

PHoto Quote The eyes are useless when the mind is blindSometimes our rose-colored glasses, plugged ears, and closed minds skew truth. A skewed truth I just learned in Nick Ham’s book, BOOK I, is that Noah DID NOT take only two of each animal, bird, etc. into the ark! It’s a half-truth. (Check out Genesis 7)

This made me wonder: “Why don’t we question?” Even when it’s before our eyes, we read it—unseeing. Are we blind lambs to be led astray?!

Truly I say unto you: just because you’ve heard something from the pulpit, seen it depicted in your child’s Bible and portrayed in art, doesn’t make it fact?

Get this: I made myself believe a stray white cat, I saw twice IN MY HOUSE, was my gray Persian! It had invited itself in when I left the kitchen door open. It was in overnight. (I couldn’t believe there hadn’t been a fight!)

The thing is: the signs were there. Ciati’s food kept disappearing w-a-y before it usually did and, once, “she” ran when she saw me.

After it bolted the next morning, I replayed, recalled, the visuals in my mind’s eye. It wasn’t until then that I “saw” a white cat, not a gray one!

Like “Ethos Bright Eyes Products” (EBEP—eye drops used to dissolve cataracts), we could use some “brain drops” for mental clarity! Wouldn’t that be KEEN? J

Manipulation through brain-washing techniques is a much used concept in fiction. Whether it’s by a shrewd inner circle (Pleasantville), or a diabolical invisible entity (Predator), there’s always a hidden agenda for some level of deception or total annihilation. Remember Hitler? In truth, there are many conspiring to lead us astray.

People, it’s working!

Don’t you wonder about things?

NOW is the time to: Question. Inquire. Research!

There are times that I eschew, intentionally avoid, confrontation. I don’t want to rattle the status quo. Sometimes I, too, simply swallow other’s information…without chewing. There’s a clue! “Chewing” begins the breakdown of food. If there’s a hair, some gristle, a piece of bone, we find it and can spit it out.

THINKING is the same. If we mentally and, hopefully, intuitively break down—decipher—deception, we can prepare for, combat, maybe PREVENT its consequences. Well, those faceless, powerful magnates, moguls, and monopolies behind the news media, the internet, TV, and our reading materials have an agenda.

Our times are a-changing. How about making change with me! Let’s open the windows of our minds. Let’s actively invest in our news-feeds and news casts. Don’t swallow everything hook line and sinker or, you will.

Either we lose a-gain, or we gain wisdom. Let’s look, and see. Our lives may depend on it.

Hungry Minds and Open Eyes

“There is nothing you can learn from as much as a problem you cannot fully solve. Unsolved problems can be some of the greatest tormentors, but also the greatest teachers. Unsolved problems keep the mind hungry and the eyes open.” –Jonathan Zap

The intention for my “Journey to Wholeness” series (January 3rd through March 14th) was to break mindsets, stimulate curiosity, and bring enlightenment to well-being—being well physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. It was a nudge to NOT get caught up in labels—“short, fat, narrow-minded, empty-headed, New Age”—but to remain open-minded, non-judgmental of “other-mindedness.”

When we think we know the mind of God, spiritual growth is thwarted, and there’s no need for faith. It’s like a marksman or sharpshooter cutting off his trigger finger. He has no further use of his rifle.

By his writings, it seems that Nietzsche lost his faith at the age of 20. Regarding such, here is what he wrote in a letter to his sister: “Hence the ways of men part: if you wish to strive for peace of soul and pleasure, then believe; if you wish to be a devotee of truth, then inquire…”

Was that his last hypothesis after meeting God, again? Who are we to judge?

My point: we have each suffered disillusionments from the actions, words, or behaviors of another human being, but that’s no reason to throw in the towel on all humanity. The same goes for not receiving the answer you expected, or desired, from your prayers, life plan, or religion. Continue seeking answers to these “unresolved problems.” Like Zap said, use them as your teachers.

It’s been a week since my series ended. I feel a responsibility to keep your brain from going mushy, so-o-o the last link in my article is to help you keep a hungry mind and open eyes.

Here are a couple of the author’s quotes (Gary ‘Z’ McGee, taken from his “Waking Times”) to prime your mind:

“From microcosm to macrocosm we are infinite beings perceiving an infinite reality using finite faculties.” (That’s us humans trying to figure out the universes, using our mere intellect—devoid of spirituality.)

“Atoms consist of 99.9999999% empty space. That means: everything from the chair you’re sitting on, the computer you’re staring at, even you, are only .000000001% there.” (If you read this for the second time, and no one’s there to witness it, does that mean you’re not there either? Huh?!)

Okay, back to another dimension. Here’s a two-minute exert of theoretical physicist, Dr. Michio Kaku (my second favorite physicist, after “Mysteries of the Universe” narrator, Brian Cox, on the Science Channel), answering Andre Lapiere’s question: “Are there only three dimensions in other universes or could there be more?”

HIP-HIP-HORRAY, for big thinkers!

If any of this intrigues you, here’s a DEEP, humorous rabbit hole…one curious click after another. Be forewarned:

“You are traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination. Next stop, the Twilight Zone!” (Season 3 of Twilight Zone-introduction by Rod Serling)

Journey to Wholeness-IV

For me, it’s a spiritual experience when something someone relates resonates deep within; even IF it’s not an immediate aha, it makes me think, “Huh?” I count it as a spiritual whisper. Sometimes, it takes not getting a concept to inspire questioning. You don’t know what you don’t know until you realize you don’t know. You know?

My goal is my “conversations” do that for you. Stay open-minded. Each “next article” is built upon the last, with a week in between for settling and practice.

Grounding earthing

Usually omitted in the charted chakras is the Foot Chakra. It’s really the first and represents our foundation, the feeling of being grounded. It’s our ability to walk the walk.

If the Foot Chakra is closed, you may feel ungrounded and confused, even tired, irritable, and unreasonable. Integration with others and understanding other’s points of view is challenged. In extreme cases, there may be destructive and violent behavior, super-sized temper tantrums. As a result, people may avoid and doubt you.

When your future is uncertain, when life serves up lemons or, the other extreme, when mundane activities interfere with your energy release, the Foot Chakra may be/become blocked.

Any workout or increase in activity will help return energy to its status quo. Take nature walks (earthing/grounding), jog, or jump rope. Smell the earth. Play in dirt; gardening can be transformational meditation.

If your MO is a wheelchair, have someone assist you by placing your feet on the ground, even pound them against the earth. (Here are some “earthing” products that may be of interest ) If this isn’t feasible, go quantum: think and envisioning yourself earthing. While you’re at it, you might as well Dance Like No One is Watching!

The color Brown represents the Foot Chakra. Wear it. Look at it. Eat it.

As for “eating it:” eat root vegetables like potatoes and turnips; raw or boiled non-GMO peanuts; brown and black rice. Season with ground Cumin (get it?), and nutmeg. Don’t forget to have some dark chocolate, rich in flavonoids and can aid in lowering cholesterol and blood pressure.

Remember brown molasses? Molasses (light–first boiling, dark–second boiling, blackstrap–third boiling and has the greatest health benefits) is made from sugar cane, sugar beets, sorghum, pomegranates, carobs or dates. I drowned my mother’s handmade biscuits with this hearty syrup. Also, remember molasses is sugar. When something sweet calls your name, EAT FRUIT. Your body is communicating its need for sugar–natural unadulterated sugar for brain support. Have you noticed sugar cravings when you are taxed or stressed? Glucose prevents brain tissue scarring from these experiences. “Comfort food” is not “soul food.” Although, soul food does emotionally and physically comfort your body…the best preventative to taking drugs!

Concerning drugs, and the perfect segue, I recently read this:

“While synthetic drugs are simplified, isolated compounds, (essential) oils are complex structures that vary slightly from batch to batch. This means that while pathogens such as viruses can eventually ‘figure out’ the simplicity of drug structures, they cannot adapt to oils because they are always slightly changing.” -soundconcepts by Kari McDermott

In other words, new strains of diseases reinvent themselves to outsmart the pharmaceuticals, aka “medicines.” Essential oils are products of nature, subject to environmental influences. Because their chemistry varies year after year, they inherently outsmart drugs!

By defusing and/or applying two drops on your wrists or temples, Young Living’s Essential Oil Envision #3337 (5 ml, $24.67 retail) helps to renew faith for the future.

Applied to the back of the neck and on the temples, Grounding #3348 (5ml, $23.36 retail)  can help you cope with reality.

For any life upgrade, it requires knowledge, mindfulness, a decision, and taking action to change.

DO IT! Color outside the lines!

SCI and Holes of Inadequacy

In the “Excuses” chapter of HOW TO BE THE BEST YOU, I told you the story of beginning a weeknight toddy habit with my mother, and how I was coerced into giving it up. It was after the fact that I realized its significance.

The initial teetotaler stage was hard; it got my attention. I wondered if I could have become an alcoholic if I hadn’t cut it out. I’d never been a “dependent” personality (even during my first couple of years of disability, I was working toward independence), but it made me ponder my feelings on the matter.

In order to get to my point…Some will say that I’m a little weird…maybe alotta’ weird, with what, when, how little, and how often I eat. I may eat lunch for breakfast then, lunch at 10:30am and again at 1:00 or 2:00pm, and even breakfast for dinner—which can be between 4:00 and 6:00pm.

I eat when I’m hungry which is pretty often; but I eat small portions because I feel satiated very quickly—another reason people think I’m weird: I don’t gorge. I detest that uncomfortable feeling!

The twain meet here. My toddy had to be around 4:00 or 5:00 while preparing dinner or waiting for its delivery. Once I eat, that’s it. Nada. Unless it’s water.

The significance of continuing our toddy habit after Mother passed away was my attempt to fill a social void. Mother was gone. After years of disability many friends have fallen by the wayside; those that have endured have families of their own and businesses to run. It was my “happy hour.”

The effect of SCI affects us differently. Whether it’s a loss of movement, a loss of freedom, or a loss of spontaneity, we’re dealing with the common denominator of loss.

Know this: the feeling of powerlessness can initiate addiction.

In the moment you feel something is out of your control, what do you gravitate toward—think about, want to do, or physically need? That longing is an emotional, even physical, craving for worthiness. Subconsciously, we are trying to adjust to something that has slipped from our grasp.

Gary Zukav, The Seat of the Soul, says you can stop the cycle of addiction by feeling your pain, lack, or loss. Each time you challenge your inadequacy—own it, face up to it, readjust, seek help—you get your control back, little by little.

It doesn’t have to be SCI loss. It can be habits of gossip, jealousy, anger, sex, alcohol, drugs, pornography, shopping, gambling, loneliness…whatever. The situation you are trying to change may never change, but you can take control to change your thoughts and responses to them!

Be brave enough to ask yourself: When I…what hole of inadequacy am I trying to fill? What am I longing for?

Whatever unhealthy thing you’re doing to feel like you’re getting your power back is a smoke screen and a procrastination of truly taking back your control? Every temptation is an opportunity for a dress rehearsal for a life change OR a repeat of consequences. Make a responsible choice.

You’re worth it.

Enlightened Mind Thoughts

We know ourselves only to the extent of our mind and spirit’s enlightenment. Tragically, most of us have no idea that we are triune beings—mind, body, and spirit or soul. Especially those of us living with a disability, when our body has taken a leave of absence. It’s an automatic separation of body and mind. As a result, we exalt the mind.

As the saying goes, “Give an inch; take a mile,” the mind begins its domination over the body and soul with its analyzing, judgements, and control tactics, sabotaging peaceful resolve with its endless mental commentary about everyone and everything.

Insinuating that its analytics are supreme, the mind stealthily convinces you to believe your thoughts, good or bad, about self-worth and behavior. It rationalizes and excuses guileful motivations, unkind words, and hateful actions because we haven’t dealt with our feelings; and at worst, we’re convinced our behaviors are deserved retribution for other’s perceived wrongs.

The mind’s battle rages, further maiming our lives by confusion, fear, doubt, and concurrent physical maladies.

Deceived, we think that these thoughts are true. In truth, they are mere thoughts, often misguided and out-of-control. If the premise of “What Women Want” were true, we would all be committed or imprisoned by our thought life! Here are three truths concerning your thoughts:

The first is that you are not your thinking.

Your thoughts try to supervise, manage, regulate, and make sense of your environment. Many poor decisions are reached through subliminal thinking, meaning: we’re oblivious to the process of our thought streams. They’re rabbit trails!

When we attempt considering the pros and cons of our options, we have no idea how we reached the destination of decision. In hindsight, have you ever been perplexed by how you arrived at a particular conclusion?

The second truth is that you can delete, rewrite, copy and paste your thoughts.

The mind should be subservient to the spirit. Don’t allow your mind to use you. Use your mind for developing constructive thought patterns. Practice visualization to uplift your spirit, and meditation and prayer to bring rest and health to your body.…elchair-needed/   ‎

The third truth, as I see it, is that the spirit does not die. It lives on after our physical body expires.

Your deeper spiritual self should tutor your mind, not vice versa. Make time each day to turn off the TV, Twitter, Facebook, your Blackberry. Still your mind. Get in touch with your higher consciousness–your spirit. Breathe in peace. Breathe out stress. Let it go.

Alzheimer’s and dementia are evidence that mind over matter isn’t always the path to enlightenment. Like the rest of us, they’re created in the image of God, yet their mind is gone.

You are NOT your mind. You are bigger than your thinking. Quiet your mind’s incessant chatter. Let your spirit claim its role to rule.
